Engineer of the Year Awards presented
The MSPE Engineer of the Year and Young Engineer of the Year were presented on May 5, during the Annual Conference in Ann Arbor.
Scott Conners, PE, was presented the Engineer of the Year Award. Scott is described as a dedicated, hardworking engineer, outstanding in professional abilities and endless willingness to volunteer. He is well respected among his peers with esteemed reputation for leadership.
As the City Engineer for the City of Walker, he is highly visible to the community and represents engineering qualities which are regarded as honorable and trustworthy. Scott has served on numerous boards for MSPE, including Western Michigan Chapter President 2004-2005 and State Chairman PE in Government 2016-2017. Scott was also recently elected to serve as President-Elect for the State Board of MSPE.
Robert Wheeler, PE, was presented the Young Engineer of the Year Award. According to his nomination, Robert Wheeler exhibits the qualities expected of a Professional Engineer. He is ethical, hard working, considers the public safety and the integrity of the profession. He worked hard as the chair of the personnel committee to select and hire our new Executive Director. He presently Chairs the Building Committee and working to guarantee the financial future of the state organization. He was instrumental in establishing the MSPE’s Mission Statement. He shows his commitment to the future by working with MATHCOUNTS for the Jackson Chapter and at the state level.
