MATHCOUNTS is a math enrichment, coaching and competition program for middle school students. It stimulates student interest by making math achievement as challenging, exciting, and prestigious as school sports. The Michigan MATHCOUNTS program is coordinated by volunteer members of the MSPE and the Chapter competitions are funded by MSPE Chapters.
How can you be involved?
Each Chapter competition has two main needs – volunteers and funding.
Contact your Chapter Coordinator to volunteer your time to assist at the chapter competition. They need help with proctoring and scoring tests. Click here for the calendar for all MATHCOUNTS events and contact information. All events are also listed on the MSPE Calendar on the MSPE Website.
Can’t help on competition day – make a donation! Donations made to the Chapter Competitions through the Michigan Engineers Foundation are 100% Tax Deductible. Your chapter will receive the full amount of your donation. You can access our online fundraising page at
https://www.razoo.com/organization/Michigan-Engineers-Foundation. Three of the Chapters have created teams, or you can donate directly to the Foundation and note the Chapter(s) you want to receive the funding. We will make sure it gets to them.
Did you know that over 85% of students indicated an interest in a STEM career…and students were most likely to indicate an interest in becoming an engineer?
Please help us bring this excellent program to your community’s students. If you have any questions on MATHCOUNTS contact your Chapter Coordinator or Nancy McClain, PE, State Coordinator, at 313-590-5690 or
NMM_Mathcounts@sbcglobal.net.
Thank you for your support!
